Welsh Weekend
Four couples met at Hartshead Moor services early(ish) Friday
morning and travelled motorways to just north of Chester.
Having met up with David and Janet we went on down past
Wrexham to Llangollen where we stopped for lunch and a gentle stroll. We then followed the A5 to Corwen and turned down to Bala and a coffee stop.
Down through the Snowdonia national park and to the hotel by the side of Tal-y-llyn. Time for a drink, wash and brush up and then there were fourteen for dinner.
Saturday saw two parties off in different directions.
One went north through the hills to Portmeirion and came back along the coast road, with a paddle at Barmouth.
The other party went south to Aberystwyth and for a ride on the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway up to Devil’s Bridge.
Sunday was the Tom Rolt rally day but unfortunately the weather was rather inclement. Members left for indoor pursuits about lunchtime.
The marquee at the show blew down Sunday night and the show was abandoned for Monday. Most of us were heading for home that
morning anyway.
