April 2010
Head of Steam - Huddersfield

Eight cars and sixteen Harrogate MG Club members met at Bolton Abbey Station for 10.00am when station staff arrived to open the railway buildings allowing a photo opportunity with one individual owning a MG Y type. Setting off soon after the ensemble travelled via Addingham, Silsden, Keighley and at Oxenhope on the Worth Valley we had morning coffees (being Mothers Day morning coffees could not be pre-arranged). Proceeding from Oxenhope on the A6033, arriving at Hebden Bridge all cars seemed to find alternative routes through the town before continuing to Halifax and Huddersfield. At Huddersfield station (an 1847 Grade 1 listed building for the Huddersfield and Manchester Railway)where the Head of Steam Bar and Restaurant is situated all enjoyed the traditional Yorkshire fare. Following the meal four cars continued to Tunnel End at Marsden before dispersing for home, a good day out with the spring sunshine showing Pennine architecture at its best.
Many thanks to Stuart for the write up.
Dinner Dance

111 members and guests of Harrogate MG Club gathered at the Millstones Restaurant, Harrogate to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its formation.
Helping the club to celebrate at the Silver Jubilee Dinner were Roche Bentley and Richard Monk, who both took an active part in the evenings proceedings, with Roche cutting the celebration cake with Alan, who in his speech thanked the MGOC for their continued support and encouragement.
Founder members of the club along with several past members and BBC TV ‘Look North’ presenter, Harry Gration also attended.
During the evening the ‘Club Member of the Year’ trophy was presented by Roche to David and Janet Grimshaw and Richard presented the new ’Chairman’s Silver Jubilee’ trophy for meritorious service, to George and Susan Grayson.
Many thanks to all the ladies who helped to organize the Dinner and decorate the venue.
Thanks to Brian for the loan of his car, hope he managed to get it back out again without any damage.
During the meal, the fire alarm sounded due to a fire in the kitchen’s extract ductwork and the Fire and Rescue Service attended with two fire engines and a turntable ladder unit to extinguish the fire. The ladies present at the Dinner were disappointed that the firemen could not be persuaded to join in our celebrations.
For many reasons, the club had a memorable evening.
Thanks to Alan for this write up.
Rally Plaques
The club has purchased some magnetic rally plaques for use on runs.
Members can purchase them if they wish or can borrow them for Harrogate MG runs.

Men’s Sweatshirt, Green with Gold Logo

Available for this year only. Why not be one of the first to own a special souvenir piece for the Silver Jubilee.
It would have Harrogate MG Club in an arc above the logo and dates instead of being in the middle, would be straight across the bottom. The clothing will be available to view at the Dinner Dance and orders can be placed on the night.
They would cost about £3-£5 more than with the standard logo. |

For all items just give me a ring on 01423 871307 if I am not at club night.
We have limited items in stock but any piece can be ordered, one at a time.
