Wales Weekend

 

Four cars met at a wet Hartshead Services and braved the M62, M6 and M56 to meet up with the Grimshaws at Chester services.

We stopped at Llangollen for lunch and then travelled the rest of the way to Talyllyn with tops down in reasonable weather.

That set the tone for the weekend, wet half days.

On Saturday all seven cars went to Portmeirion and we had a wet walk along the woodland trail before enjoying a sunny afternoon

and a pleasant coastal drive back to the hotel.

On Sunday we split into two groups and sampled the little trains of Wales.

One group travelled on the Vale of Rheidol up to Devil’s Bridge from Aberystywth.

Others travelled on the newly opened stretch of the Welsh Highland Railway from Beddgelert to Caernarfon.

Homeward bound on Monday after a coffee break with Terry Waite.

Tees Valley Trail

 

Seven cars attended the Trail, leaving the Roots Farm Shop near East Rounton and travelling around the North Yorkshire Moors.

The first part took us up through Osmotherley and Hawnby to Helmsley. We then skirted the southern edge of the moors

before climbing up to wild and bleak Wheeldale moor. After a picnic lunch we returned to the farm shop via Glaisdale and Eskdale.
