1976 MGB V8 ROADSTER
This MG was rebuilt in September 1993 utilising an unused ex-factory British Leyland bodyshell. Fitted with new doors, wings, bonnet, boot lid and fuel tank.
All seals rubbers and soundproofing
replaced. Painted in two-pack glacier white (BLVC59).
All V8 parts taken from production MGB GT V8. Engine and gearbox reconditioned and the rear axle stripped and examined. Fitted with new brake lines,
front disks, rear brake linings and suspension completely renewed to V8 specification. New brake and clutch master cylinders, radiator and larger oil cooler.
Five new 15”
diameter alloy wheels shod with 205/60 tyres. The engine was fitted
with tubular manifolds and stainless steel exhaust.
The interior was re-trimmed with new carpets, trim, and Moss special leather seats.
The original V8 dashboard was installed and all brightwork renewed including bumpers and grille.
The
vehicle was rebuilt at a cost in excess of £15000 and is considered to be the closest thing to a
factory built V8 Roadster.
Later Modifications
A
5 speed Rover gearbox and walnut dash have recently been fitted.
This operation included the fitting of new Coni rear shock absorbers, specially prepared prop shaft, new front brake calipers, and anti-fade pads.
A complete nut and bolt restoration has been carried out at the same time.
A new 'R' type mohair hood has been fitted and finally a total outside respray was completed in December 2003.
This MG is now in 1st class show condition and has covered approximately 12000 miles since original build in 1993.
