Cheque Presentation

At the Club night in December we presented cheques of £1000 each to three charities which had been nominated by members.

The first was Chrisseys Quest, a fund set up to help a local youngster six years old Chris Maltby travel to America for treatment for cerebral palsy,

he wants to be like his twin brother who does not have the disease.

The second was an old favourite - Horticap based near Harlow Carr who help disadvantaged youngsters to work in horticulture.

The third  suggestion was to find a charity connected to Pateley Bridge where we have held the show for a number of years.

We chose the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Society who were very pleased at our generosity and have already put some of the money to good use in four rescues over the Christmas period.

Oakdale Christmas Dinner

More than fifty members and guests enjoyed this annual treat, it was very unusual not to have to negotiate snow or ice to get there and home again.

The meal was as good as usual and Darren’s staff looked after us very well.

Breakdown of the Month

Time to revive this accolade having heard of a spectacular entrant in the form of John Page’s MGB.

The petrol pump packed up in Folkestone last Tuesday and it was brought back to Harrogate on a low loader. Certainly going to be top of the list for a while.

BLENHEIM - MGB 50th Birthday  - September 21st to 24th

MGOC and MG Car Club are together holding an event at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 23rd

September. There are no further details from them at present. (www.MGB50.com)

Having already contacted the MGOC they say any MG is welcome but their display will be MGBs

We are organising a long/short weekend staying somewhere near Blenheim.

Drive down Friday, Saturday at leisure (maybe a visit to Oxford or the Cotswolds), Sunday at the show and return home Monday.

Number of days can be two, three or four depending on circumstances.

We are hoping to keep the cost to about £50 per person per night bed & breakfast.

Early numbers will be appreciated to help determine the size of hotel.
