Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway
This was a good event with some unusual cars. The weather could have been kinder, it was quite cold and rained later in the day.
Most members enjoyed a ride (half price) on the railway
Club Run
Twenty five members met for coffee at the Craven Heifer and then set off on a 50 mile run.
We explored the area west of the A65 from Long Preston, to Slaidburn and through the Forest of Bowland.
We then returned to the east of the A65 and went through Settle, Airton and Hetton to Cracoe for a good Sunday lunch.
The run would have been better with good weather so we have resolved to repeat it in the summer.
Hopefully then we would be better able to appreciate the views.
Many thanks to David and Janet for the organisation.
Club Night - Barnes Wallis Trust - Peter Rix
A very interesting and enjoyable evening. It was a fascinating insight into the life of a man remembered
chiefly for the ‘bouncing bomb’ but who, in the course of his lifetime, did so much more.
The members seem to enjoy having speakers and we would hope to arrange more for next year.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Pub Night - Luigis
Twenty two members enjoyed a good night out again at this popular Italian restaurant and helped Sue Abbott celebrate her birthday.
Thanks to Barbara for the organisation.
MG Owners Club trip to Brittany on 1 October 2009.
After a smooth overnight ferry from Portsmouth we arrived in St Malo just in time for coffee and croissants at a local street café.
After a walk around the walled town we set off on a short 37 mile ride to Mont St Michel, where after a walk around the town,
we were able to join a very informative tour of the abbey.
On arrival in Dinan later in the afternoon it was a quick run to go book our favourite restaurant the Cottage for that evening.
We were lucky enough to extend our stay in Dinan to 4 nights instead of the usual 2, so had time to explore the local beaches in the area,
St Cast was a typical deserted beach, we were able to paddle in the sea (albeit with our coats on!) and gather shells.
The Owners club had provided two routes for us to drive, one incorporated the Motor Museum at Loheac,
driving through Wizard of Merlin country and the other a circular coastal route taking in Fort la Latte,
where we enjoyed a picnic on the headland and Cap Frehel.
This year the hotel had opened up a Jacuzzi, which was enjoyed by some of us, though no-one risked the outdoor pool.
All in all it was a super trip, the position of the hotel in Dinan second to none.
The town and quayside of Dinan is very quaint and we spent a happy few hours meandering through tiny medieval streets and walking the castle walls.
In all 42 cars were on the trip and it was good to meet up with old friends such as Dave and Shirley from the High Wycombe Club
who now feel that they are honorary MG Harrogate members.
To everyone out there that hasn’t yet done an MG Owners Club holiday, get yourselves booked on one,
some include a lot of driving, but this particular trip is an easy drive.
Thanks to Janet and David for organising us so well, we really must learn some French for next time!

Annual Dinner Dance - March 20th 2010
Bookings are now being taken for this event at The Millstones.
We are hoping to make this a special occasion for our 25th year.
Please book early to avoid a last minute panic for the Committee as most members have
previously booked the event only a month before the meal.
Bookings by the end of December would really help.
